Student Walkthrough

Below is the process of walking through the NetGenEd Project using Alix Rowe as an example in order to see all the pieces of student work that are a part of the project.
At the bottom of the page, you will find a chart with direct links to each student whose work we will be scoring.

To begin, we need to identify the student who's work we'll be tracking down.
On the left side of this Wiki page you will see a section titled Student Resources, click on Team Matrix
This will take you to the page where you will see all the names of students who participated in the NetGenEd project and which group they worked with.
To find the student we are looking for on this page: hold down Ctrl and press F and type in Alix.
You should see her name highlighted in the D column called Simple Augmented Reality and if you look across to the left she is in the 2 - Customization group.
So we can locate Alixandria Rowe (ISA) in D2.

Now we know which topic this student worked on and specifically which group she worked with (Customization and Simple Augmented Reality).

There are several areas in this project where students collaborated and interacted.
Under Student Resources again, you will find the GrownUpDigital Ning, NetGenEd Wiki and Diigo Group .

In the GrownUpDigital Ning the students created their own personal profiles and communicated with each other by sharing resources and ideas through blog posts, comments, and site-wide as well as group-specific discussions. Students could also create groups and take initiative in being in charge of running a group.

To find our student Alix Rowe, go to the Members page and search for Alix in the search box under "All Members."

Now we are on Alixandria's page. You will notice all the Latest Activity up towards the top of the page, including her Final Video for the Flat Classroom Project. On the left hand side of the main page you will see her Blog Posts, Discussion Posts, as well as the Groups she is a member of and the Videos she has posted.
(All students should have a minimum of 2 videos posted because they were required to provide an outsourced clip to one of the other students in the project as well as create their own final video.

NetGenEd Wiki - this is a wiki that is hosted by the Flat Classroom Project. This is where all the students from all different schools added content specific to their group topic. Each student should have added content to at least 2 pages - their main technology topic page, and their subtopic (technology + Net Gen norm) page.

To find the main technology topic page where our student Alix Rowe contributed, look on the left side of the page and scroll down to Topic Wikis. Click on Simple Augmented Reality (D). Now you are on the first of the 2 pages where we can find specific contributions made by Alix. To find them click the History Tab at the top of the page and scroll through to find AlixRowe and the contributions she made to this page of the wiki. You can also see how Alix contributed to the group discussion about this page by clicking on the Discussion Tab

Go back to the Page view of the Simple Augmented Reality page . On the right side of the page, you will see a Table of Contents. Look for Team D.2 Customization and Simple Augmented Reality and click on it. This will take you down to the place on the main page where you find the link to Alix's team page, the subtopic specific to her group, Customization and Simple Augmented Reality
Now you are on the second of the 2 pages where we can find specific contributions made by Alix. To find them click on the History Tab and the Discussion Tab at the top of the page, then scroll through to find AlixRowe and see her contributions.

Note: The discussion in the wiki is specific to each individual wiki page. For example, if a student wants to clarify why they added or deleted a certain section on the main page they can address that in this discussion. The students exchanged information and discussion about the topic mostly through Ning and Diigo.

Diigo Group – the purpose of this group is for the students to share online resources about their research topics with each other.

To find Alix in the Diigo Group – look on the right side of the page and find Members, click on View All, then look for Alix R.

Additional Student Work

In the first three weeks of the course, students were ask to reflect on the intersection of ideas around global leadership and 21st-century digital citizenship. One of the ways they did this was to write these Digital Citizenship Reflections.

About 2 months into the course, just before we began the NetGenEd Project and after working on the Digital Nation lessons, students created Six-Word Stories about their digital life. These can be viewed on the Home page of this wiki.
